When Stax Records, the famed Memphis soul label, needed a bassist to accompany one of its A-list artists, it called on musician Donald “Duck” Dunn.
Together with his childhood friend, guitarist Steve Cropper, and organist Booker T. Jones, Dunn backed an array of well-known performers from Wilson Pickett to Otis Redding and Albert King through the 1960s and early ’70s.

So if you are lucky enough to live in Arizona, in close proximity to Tuscon’s Centennial Hall, then you may be able to catch this show on Tuesday, April 15th. Perhaps the rest of us will get lucky by having the original Stax house band come to our town as well. I got to see Motown’s Funk Brothers a few years back and this concert would be the perfect match to see.
