Sir Bob Geldof has received an honorary degree in music from the University of East London.

The musician and charity campaigner was joined by students, qualified in science and technology, for the graduation ceremony at London’s Barbican Centre.

The former Boomtown Rat joked about his daughters at the ceremony saying: “East London means to me mostly where my kids go out at night, and I have to go and pick them up – Shoreditch, Dalston, those kind of places.”
